The diva of Italian cinema Sophia Loren celebrates 90 years of life this Friday (20) with an event at Space Cinema Moderno, in Rome, his hometown.
The celebration, promoted by the Ministry of Culture, Cinecittà and Archivio Luce, will continue with an exclusive party for 150 guests on the terrace of the Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Hotel, overlooking the Baths of Diocletian.
Loren, who is one of the most beloved Italian actresses in the world, will wear a dress designed by her friend Giorgio Armani to receive the award for her career from the hands of the Italian Undersecretary of Culture, Lucia Borgonzoni, and Chiara Sbarigia, president of Cinecittà, the main film center of the “Belpaese”, which is organizing a series of initiatives to celebrate the actress's birthday.
Among the scheduled activities are an exhibition at the Lincoln Center in New York and a tribute at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, both in the United States, in November.

During her career, Loren acted with some of the greatest names of the 20th century, including Clark Gable, Cary Grant and Marlon Brando, as well as another icon of Italian cinema, Marcello Mastroianni, her favorite acting partner who passed away in 1996.
With Mastroianni, Loren starred in “A Very Special Day” by Ettore Scola, “Marriage Italian Style” by Vittorio De Sica, among other hits.
The actress, who was married to film producer Carlo Ponti (1992-2007), last appeared on the big screen in 2020's “Rosa e Momo”, directed by her son Edoardo Ponti.
“On the occasion of your [Loren’s] birthday, I would like to send you my sincere wishes and also the gratitude of the [Italian] Republic for your extraordinary career as a film interpreter, marked by the awarding of numerous and prestigious national and international awards,” congratulated the President of Italy, Sergio Mattarella.
