To protect public order and face the coronavirus emergency, mayors across Italy are getting really creative. Sometimes bizarre.
In Messina, Sicily, Mayor Cateno De Luca created a very personalized measure to control residents: use a drone with a speaker and expel the reckless.
“Can’t I formally force him to stay at home? Well, then I forbid you from traveling on public streets”, says the mayor, mixing slogans and swear words in the Italian style. “Where are you going, w…” shouts the mayor, with his drone flying behind the residents.
