Streaming platform Netflix announced on Tuesday (3) that the series “The Laws of Lidia Poët”, which tells the story of Italy's first female lawyer, has been renewed for its third season.
The episodes about Lidia Poët, a contemporary character and a woman who made history in Italian feminism, are produced by Matteo Rovere and will once again feature Matilda De Angelis in the role of the protagonist.
Alongside her are Eduardo Scarpetta, who plays journalist Jacopo Barberis; Pier Luigi Pasino, who is Enrico Poët, Lidia's brother; Sara Lazzaro, who plays Teresa Barberis, Enrico's wife; and Sinéad Thornhill, who plays Mariana Poët, Lidia's daughter.
According to Netflix, the third part of the production will only be available on the platform, where it is already possible to watch the first two seasons. The release date, however, has not yet been announced.
Set in the city of Turin at the end of the 19th century, the story begins with a court declaring Lidia's registration with the Bar Association illegitimate, preventing her from working professionally simply because she is a woman.
Penniless but full of pride, she tries to overturn the decision through her brother's law firm and makes a series of discoveries about the power in the Italian town.
The series, whose first season won the award for best “crime” series at the “Nastri d'Argento Grandi Serie 2023”, is a production by Groenlandia, a company of the Banijay Group, and was created by Guido Iuculano and Davide Orsini. (HANDLE)
