Gian Marco Centinaio was in Brazil for Jair Bolsonaro's inauguration
Italy's Minister of Agricultural Policies, Gian Marco Centinaio, on Tuesday (1st) mocked Brazilian food products that reference icons of Italian gastronomy.

Centinaio, who was in Brazil to represent the Italian government at the inauguration of President Jair Bolsonaro, posted photos on Twitter of various items, including mozzarella, “gorgonzola-type” cheese and “parma-type” ham.

“Italian sound in Brazil? No thanks! Just 'made in Italy'”, he wrote, citing in the message consortia of producers of parma ham, gorgonzola and mozzarella. In another post, the minister photographed Brazilian products that use the colors of the Italian flag on their labels.

Centinaio probably didn't do his homework before leaving for Brazil. Little does he know that there are around 30 million descendants of Italians in Brazil, and what he calls “Italian imitation” are, in fact, products produced by families, almost always Italian.
The indigestible guest is a member of the ultranationalist Lega party.
