A Milan court ordered a journalist to pay the Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, compensation of five thousand euros due to a post on social media.
The information was published by the news agency HANDLE and other local media.
The journalist's publication Giulia Cortese was made on the former social network Twitter, now X, in October 2021 and referred to Meloni's height in terms that the court considered to be “body shaming”.
Meloni sued Cortese after the two women clashed on social media.
Meloni, at the time in opposition, commented on a publication by Cortese where you see a photograph of the now prime minister with a photo of Benito Mussolini in the background. In the tweet exchange, Cortese wrote that Meloni didn't scare her. “After all, it is only 1,20 meters tall. I can’t even see her,” she wrote.

According to various sources of information, the height of Meloni must be between 1,58 meters and 1,63 meters.
Cortese can appeal the sentence. Meloni's lawyer has already stated that any funds the prime minister will receive from this process will be donated to a charitable cause.
