The Italian Consulate General in São Paulo announced this Thursday (10) changes to passport appointments. The measure will come into effect next week and will impact thousands of Italians registered in the jurisdiction who are facing difficulties in obtaining the document.
The main novelty is the implementation of the system captcha on the portal Prenot@miThe tool was developed in partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome to combat fraud. The practice of selling places through third parties was one of the biggest complaints from those seeking the service.
With captchaAccording to a statement from the consulate, the goal is to ensure a more transparent process. Furthermore, the consulate will begin releasing appointment slots weekly. On Mondays, starting July 14th, at 16 PM (Brasilia time), slots will be available for first-time passport applications. On Tuesdays, starting July 15th, at the same time, slots will be available for renewals.
The consulate emphasizes that appointments should only be made by people with up-to-date information. Discrepancies or outdated information may result in cancellation of the appointment.
Demand remains high. Over the past two years, more than 80 new Italian citizens have applied. Currently, there are approximately 380 Italians registered in the district.
