The baby's smile made the newspaper pages and became a symbol of hope after weeks of pain and worry in Italy
Italy witnessed one of the most beautiful stories in these difficult times of coronavirus this week. The situation is dramatic in Lombardy, but amidst all the bad news, Leo appeared, a baby less than two months old who, after testing positive, managed to recover from Covid-19.
At exactly 50 days old, the little resident of Corbetta, a small town in the province of Milan, tested positive for the coronavirus and was immediately hospitalized.
“Welcome to Corbetta, Leo. Today we have one more reason to smile, be happy, feel even more like a united community”, wrote Mayor Marco Ballarini, on his Facebook profile. “Today we look at the wonderful face of hope, our hope. Corbetta, we welcomed little Leonardo back home, recently released from the hospital where he won the battle against coronavirus”, added Ballarini.
Leonardo became the symbol of victory when he made a funny face when being photographed.
