Tremor was recorded in the province of Rome. Area is small seismicity
An earthquake measuring 3,3 on the Richter scale was recorded in the early hours of Monday (11) and was felt by the population in the center of Rome, but without causing damage.
The epicenter – in Fonte Nuova, in the northwest of the province of Rome – was recorded at around 5 am (midnight, Brasília time).
The earthquake caused no damage, just numerous requests for information from frightened people, according to firefighters.
Exactly because the area affected by this morning's event has not shown significant seismicity in recent years.

The earthquake was felt by the population in Rome and, in particular, in the northeast region, closest to the epicenter, as well as in provincial cities such as Tivoli and Guidonia, and many people fled to the streets despite the rain.
“We are not talking about a strong earthquake, It is a frequent magnitude in our country. Shocks like these of magnitude 3,3 we record hundreds, if not thousands, during the year. The shock that was felt in Rome woke up many people, but did not cause damage in the municipalities of Fonte Nuova, Mentana and Monterotondo, which are the closest municipalities to the epicentral area”, explained Pierfrancesco De Milito, head of the Civil Protection press office at the 'Rai News 24'.
