The Technical-Scientific Committee (CTS) established to assist the Italian government in combating the new coronavirus pandemic delivered this week the document with the guidelines for the reopening of schools in the country, scheduled for September, early next year. school year.

Upon returning to in-person classes, schools will have to guarantee a minimum interpersonal distance of one meter – or two, in the case of activities in gyms – and use of masks by all students over six years of age, less during physical activities and meals.

Student arrivals will be staggered by schedule, and those with a fever above 37,5°C or respiratory symptoms will have to stay at home, but schools will not take students' temperatures. Schools will have to undergo daily cleaning and provide alcohol gel in their environments.

“The government is working to return all students to classes. This document is the framework within which we will insert the reopening plan. A few simple rules that will allow us to return to our desks safely,” said Italian Education Minister Lucia Azzolina.
