Tokyo 2020 has closed its doors. In the final balance, Italy registered its record with 40 medals, coming in tenth place if the parameter is the number of gold medals won. In total medals, the Azzurri came in seventh place in total number of medals – 10 gold, 10 silver and 20 bronze.

Italy won more medals than Germany (37) and France (33).

In Rio, the Italian national team it was in ninth place, with two less gold medals (8) and the total was 28. Therefore, in Japan the increase was 12 medals, or 43%.
