ITA, new Alitalia, opens ticket sales for São Paulo

A Italia Transporto Aereo (ITA), successor to Alitalia, opened ticket sales starting this Thursday (26/08). But the company will only debut its routes, in fact, from October 15th.

The new company will also begin operating as a state-owned company. Alitalia has been operating, since 2017, under federal intervention.

Without that intervention, according to the Italian Government, it would go to bankruptcy. So, it had authorization from the European Union (EU).

ITA, the new Alitalia, opened ticket sales this Thursday (26), but the system is unstable.

The company must fly to São Paulo from March 2022.

Although not mentioned, the city of Rio de Janeiro also appears in the ticket search engine, but without any information on flights or dates.

In a note this Thursday, published on its website, the company said that “is finalizing the certification process necessary to start selling tickets as quickly as possible” for countries such as Brazil, the United States, Japan and Argentina.

According to news from the ANSA agency, the ITA has been authorized to fly since 17/08. This permission is from the National Civil Aviation Entity (Enac), corresponding to Anac, in Brazil.

Alitalia stopped selling air tickets for flights after October 25th at midnight on Wednesday (15th).

A ITA, which will begin its journey with public capital, has already made an offer to buy Alitalia's assets and will participate in an auction to retain the brand.

The new company will have a fleet of 52 aircraft, a number that will be increased to 78 in 2022 and 105 by the end of 2025.

The industrial plan also foresees around 2,8 employees at ITA, with the aim of reaching 5,75 by 2025 – the current Alitalia has 10,5 employees.
