The work “O Palestra e os Palestrinos” is commemorative. Instituto Palestra Itália celebrates one year of foundation
The book “O Palestra e os Palestrinos” was launched on Tuesday (26) in Belo Horizonte, a work that tells and extols the history of Cruzeiro Esporte Clube, which will complete one hundred years in 2021. Led by the Instituto Palestra Itália, which celebrates one year of its foundation this February, the literary work features testimonies from family members of some important characters in the history of Cruzeiro.
“The relevance of this work, the importance of the book Palestra e os Palestrinos, is to tell the story of who created Cruzeiro. An example we have is Nogueirinha (former Palestra Itália and Cruzeiro player), we were with him at the end of last year and at the beginning of this year he passed away. For three months, we would practically lose the opportunity to hear the cases from that time from him himself. It is part of a project and the Palestra Itália Institute exists for this purpose, to rescue and value the club's origins. There are a lot of rich, cool things that cannot be forgotten. The idea for the book came from that. It is gratifying to publish material like this”, said the lawyer and head of the institute, Sérgio Santos Rodrigues.
“I spoke to some people who had access to the work. Many say it is exciting to see how the book was written. Family members mentioned in the work became emotional. We don't even call it a book, but rather a collection, a balance of work. And may this work encourage anyone who has materials to send them to us. The project is something never-ending, we want to do several volumes later to record it”, commented Sérgio Santos Rodrigues.
The work “O Palestra e os Palestrinos” is a commemorative book, as the Instituto Palestra Itália celebrates one year this February. The institute's intention is, even without an official link with Cruzeiro, to enhance the club's image by reviving the institution's origins.
