Law in the city intends to officially promote Italian Language Week
Florianópolis is the first city in the world to have the Italian Language Week institutionalized through a law. The proposal was approved by the City Council and sanctioned by Mayor Gean Loureiro.
According to the law, the Italian Language Week aims to “value the Brazilian and Italian historical, artistic and cultural heritage” and “spread the Italian language”. With this new law, a State policy is made official that seeks to “promote actions such as: lectures, debates, meetings, fairs, events and seminars focused on the topic for the general public”.
