The municipality of Sambuca di Sicilia, in the province of Agrigento/Sicily, Italy, recorded the sale of 221 houses at symbolic prices, consolidating the success of the “House for 1 euro” project.
Located on a hill with spectacular views, the village combines historical charm and local culture.

The initiative began with the sale of 16 properties for 1 euro. Later, new tenders included houses for 2 and 3 euros, with the aim of attracting residents and revitalizing the historic center, which has around 6 inhabitants.
CNN and the British newspaper Times highlighted the project, drawing attention to local hospitality. Actress Lorraine Bracco, known for Soprano Family, was one of the buyers. She restored her house in the original style, preserving the historic architecture.

Sambuca continues to attract new residents with its innovative projects. Lyndsey, 36, a Google manager, and her husband Robert, 44, recently purchased a property in the village for 3 euros.
Accompanied by their two children, the couple plans to move to Sicily, transforming their historic two-story house into a home. “I’ve fulfilled a dream. Sambuca is incredible, with charming streets, good food, and local wine,” said Lyndsey.
