At the end of 2023, Kanye West was preparing for a mega concert in Campovolo, Emilia-Romagna, in Italy. However, the event was suddenly canceled. Now, details revealed by organizer Clemente Zard help to understand what happened behind the scenes.
During an interview with the podcast “One Take”, Zard, director of the production company Vivo Concerti, said that the meeting with Kanye took place in a house rented by the rapper, previously belonging to Sting.
The musician, who now performs as Ye, appeared wearing purple pajamas and made an unusual request: to build a cathedral in the middle of the arena in just 30 days.
"It wasn't something for the stage; there were already incredible projects for that. He wanted a permanent structure that would celebrate his music and his image, including a space for merchandising." reported Zard to Corriere di Bologna. The organizer's refusal, based on the impossibility of obtaining permits in such a short time, angered Kanye, who accused him of affecting his mental health and left improvising a rap.
Italian citizenship
The situation became even more curious when, about an hour and a half later, Kanye returned accompanied by his wife, the Italian-Australian Bianca Censors.
This time, he made a new demand: to obtain Italian citizenship. According to Zard, the rapper explained that he didn't want to return to the United States because his visa was about to expire, and he wished to remain in Italy. Upon receiving another refusal, this time for bureaucratic reasons, Kanye became furious again.
Bianca Censori is the granddaughter of Italians from Giulianova, in Abruzzo.

A genius beyond reality
Zard concluded his interview by stating that he considers Kanye West a genius, but that, because of this same genius, he ends up getting lost in his own ideas and distances himself from reality. The concert never got off the ground, and the rapper's demands were decisive in the project being abandoned.
