Italian voters residing in Brazil will be able to deliver their completed ballots in person to the constitutional referendum on September 20th and 21st, which will decide on a reform that reduces the number of parliamentarians in the European country by a third.

Normally, Italian voters need to send the envelopes with their vote via Post Office, but, with the strike at the company, the possibility of delivering them in person was opened on the 14th and 15th of September, from 9am to 16pm.

“In view of the exceptional nature of the general situation, we inform voters in Brazil that, if they have not yet received the electoral envelope for the Constitutional Referendum or have received it after this announcement, they may request a duplicate or deliver the pre-election envelope. directly franchised […] on Monday, 14th, and Tuesday, September 15th, from 9am to 16pm.

The same facility also applies to those who have not yet received the requested duplicate or received it after this press release”, says an official note from the Italian consular network.

The statement reminds that voting is personal and that each voter must have a valid identification document at the time of delivery.

Furthermore, the voter can only hand in their envelope, and it is not permitted to take someone else's vote. Due to the new coronavirus pandemic, only voters wearing a mask will be allowed to enter consular offices.

Votes that arrive at the relevant consulate after 16 PM on September 15th will not be counted in the tally.
