The Italian Consulate General in São Paulo renewed two partnerships for teaching Italian in public schools this Monday (8): one in the city of São Paulo and another in the city of Jundiaí.
The agreement signed with the capital was signed between the Secretary of Education, Fernando Padula Novaes, and the consul general Filippo La Rosa and provides for the Italian language to be taught to teenagers aged 11 to 15 in public schools through teaching centers of foreign language, institutions that are the result of the signing of the agreement between the Consulate and the City Hall three years ago.
According to a statement, “the decision to continue with the program, which gave good results during the two-year period despite the [Covid-19] pandemic, is the result of the Italian authorities' desire to continue investing in São Paulo's public school in order to bring the Italy talents who cannot attend private education”.
The partnership with Jundiaí, which has already existed for three years, was renewed with an “even more ambitious” objective, according to the consulate.
“Local institutions, in the last three years, have taken the teaching of the Italian language in a profound way, not only for reasons linked to the high percentage of Italian descendants in the city, but also for the training and professional potential that knowledge of the culture and language Italian can offer”, he adds.
The idea is to introduce language teaching universally in local public schools. To this end, the partnership between the Consulate and City Hall aims to invest even more in the training of language teachers. (HANDLE).
