Cesena defender Marco Curto has been banned for 10 games for a racist insult directed at the South Korean striker. Hwang Hee-chan, from Wolverhampton.
According to FIFA, the defender will miss five Serie B matches, while the other half will remain suspended for two years and will only be served in the event of a repeat offense.
“Curto was found guilty of discriminatory behaviour and suspended for 10 games. Half of those games are suspended and the player was instructed to perform community service and attend training and educational sessions organised by a FIFA-approved organisation,” said the world football governing body.
The incident happened before Curto, who plays for Como, was loaned to Cesena. In a friendly against the British club, the Italian is said to have called his South Korean opponent “Jackie Chan” in a comment to a teammate. (HANDLE)
