Project aims to rethink the architecture of the Alps from the perspective of climate change
Not only beautiful to look at, but also perfectly integrated into the environment, economic and social context. This is what a project seeks revitalize areas in the Alps in Piedmont, in northern Italy.
Recently completed, the study of Habit.A, together with France, aims to rethink architecture in the mountains, based on the perspective of climate change.
The initiative is part of the European cross-border cooperation program between the two countries, and received a loan of 660 thousand euros, between funds Europeans and national funding.
The person in charge of the study is the Order of Architects of Cuneo, which developed the activity in collaboration with several Italian and French beneficiaries, institutional and technical partners.
“It is an important step that expands the concept of sustainability”, explains architect Claudio Bonicco.
According to him, the project aims to develop the region in line with the style and materials of the local tradition, built according to the most modern energy saving standards, in harmony with the territory that hosts them.
A young man's bet: the new vineyard in Piedmont 'will have the grape of hope'
And ten model structures located in rural areas, identified in Piedmont, between Italy and France, represent all of this, and could be an excellent calling card for the revitalization of these areas, countering depopulation.
“To define the new parameters, a mapping of 80 architectures was carried out, of which ten were selected, considered exemplary as they already have some characteristics that make a building responsible”, continues Bonicco.
The ten architectures thus became “testimonies” of the paradigm shift for construction and renovation.
Among them is the Valliera village in Castelmagno, an example of valorization also for the purposes of producing traditional cheeses.
