At least four people died in Italy this weekend as a result of bad weather. Strong winds and heavy rains caused a series of accidents.

In Bari, in the south, a Turkish cargo ship was stranded just 200 meters from the coast. The 15 crew members were evacuated using a helicopter.

Two of the victims died in the Lazio region after a wall collapsed. Near Rome, a 45-year-old man died from injuries sustained when a tree fell on his car while he was driving.

Also in the capital region, a teenager died after the roof of the house where he lived fell. The father, who was repairing the roof, was thrown but survived the fall.

Italian emergency teams have received more than 1500 requests for help across the country.

This Sunday in Rome, as a precaution, several monuments, such as the Colosseum, will be closed to the public.
