The summer of 2024 will be considered one of the hottest since meteorological data began to be recorded in Italy in 1800, the National Research Council (CNR) reported this Saturday (24).
After a June that ranked ninth among the hottest months and a July that ranked third among the highest average temperatures, August will confirm the trend.
“The rains expected for Monday will certainly not be enough for us to be able to talk about a cooler summer,” said the meteorologist at Tuscany region, CNR and Consorzio Lamma, Claudio Tei.
According to him, “temperatures will continue to rise above average again, although with much more acceptable values compared to these last few days”.
Tei also reinforced that the storms should begin to hit northern Italy next Monday (26) and September will be marked by “more bearable heat”.
The placement of summer 2024 in the historical series will be defined in the first days of September, when data from the Institute of Atmospheric and Climate Sciences will be published (Isac) from Cnr, “which will also contain the variation in values in relation to the reference average for the period 1991-2020”.
