One of the Italian tourist 65-year-old traveled to Senegal and, upon returning home in Pavia, discovered that she had unknowingly married a local man while on vacation.
According to the newspaper Corriere, the marriage was annulled “due to natural incapacity at the time of the celebration”, as the woman was able to prove that she suffers from a personality disorder that worsened during the trip.
The annulment occurred three years after the tourist reported the case to the Italian authorities, claiming to think that the wedding, celebrated in a mosque in Senegal, followed by a party with food local music and dancing, it was a kind of celebration without legal value.
During the hearing, the woman explained that she only agreed to marry the man, with whom she had a long-distance relationship, because she thought the ceremony had no legal value.
The 42-year-old “groom” does not agree and assured the judge that the woman was aware of what she was doing.
However, the magistrate believed the Italian woman and annulled the marriage. Case closed.
