US President Donald Trump addressed Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni with an unusual comment during the Gaza peace summit held on Monday, 13, in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt.
"In America, if you tell a woman she's beautiful, your political career is over, but I'll take the risk," Trump said. Turning to Meloni, who was right behind him, he added: “You won’t be offended if I say you’re beautiful, will you? Because you are.”

The comment caused discomfort among some in the audience and gained international attention. Meloni responded with a restrained smile, without responding verbally. At other points in the speech, the Italian prime minister appeared tired and disinterested.

Gaza ceasefire agreement
The incident occurred during the announcement of a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas, formalized by world leaders present in Egypt. Although no Israeli or Hamas officials were present, the agreement was signed by Trump and the heads of state of Egypt, Turkey, and Qatar—countries that acted as mediators.

The Trump-led initiative was hailed as a step forward in the effort to end the conflict. He said, "the reconstruction [of Gaza] begins now." The ceasefire was preceded by the release of 20 Israeli hostages by the Hamas group.
The meeting was also attended by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, as well as other international representatives.
