The traditional Feast of San Gennaro, held in the heart of Mooca, will begin this Saturday (7) and will run until October 6. The celebration, which is already in its 51st edition, is part of the official calendar of tourist events in São Paulo and ends the cycle of italian parties in the city.
Organized by the Parish of San Gennaro, the festival offers a true feast of Italian cuisine, with around 20 stalls on the streets of San Gennaro and Lins, offering typical dishes such as pizza, lasagna, gnocchi, polenta, fogazza, among others.
The event will also feature inflatable toys to ensure children have fun. Street activities take place on Saturdays from 17pm to 23pm and on Sundays from 17pm to 22pm, with free admission.
At the San Gennaro winery, visitors can purchase tickets for a more complete experience, including live music performances by the Banda Itália Brasil, dance presentations, and prize raffles.
The canteen, located in the church warehouse, is open on Saturdays from 17:30 p.m. to 23 p.m. and on Sundays from 18:30 p.m. to 22 p.m. Tickets cost R$65 on Saturdays and R$50 on Sundays, and include a plate of spaghetti, a slice of pizza and a portion of bruschetta.
The festival also includes a religious program in honor of the patron saint, with masses on the 16th, 17th and 18th of September, at 19 pm, and a solemn mass on the 22nd, at 9 am, followed by a procession through the streets of Mooca.
The proceeds from the party will be donated to social projects maintained by the Parish of San Gennaro, which since 1914 has been working to include children, young people and the elderly in vulnerable situations, through the distribution of food, basic food baskets and hygiene kits, in addition to other social assistance services.
