Around 8 thousand foreign couples chose Italy to celebrate their marriage in 2017.
The most sought after region was Tuscany, with 31,8%, which corresponds to approximately 2,5 ceremonies.
In total, the sector moved 140 million euros in the region in 2017, totaling 500 thousand nights in hotel structures.
Among the places preferred by foreigners to get married are mansions, luxury hotels, restaurants, as well as beaches and historic villages.
The main “clients” are from the United Kingdom (39,7%) and the United States (15,4%), as well as Australia, Germany and the Netherlands.
Also noteworthy are Brazilians, Russians and Chinese, who have increased their presence in wedding reservations in the region.
Regarding the cities chosen by tourists, the favorites in Tuscany are Florence, Fiesole, Castelnuovo Berardenga and Certaldo. The data was presented by the region's director of Tourism Promotion, Alberto Peruzzini, and the director of the Convention Bureau, Carlotta Ferrari.
The region even has the “Tuscany for Weddings” project, which promotes, on an international level, weddings in Tuscany. However, regions such as Lombardy (16%), Campania (14,7%) and Veneto (7,9%) also stood out in the wedding sector last year. (ANSA)
