The Municipal Theater of Rio de Janeiro, inspired by the Paris Opera, turns 115 years old and, to celebrate the anniversary, offers the public, after almost three decades, the “Trittico” by Giacomo Puccini, composed of three operas in a single act: Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi.
With official sponsorship from Petrobras and collaboration with the Italian Institute of Culture in Rio, the initiative pays homage to the composer on the centenary of his death and will be presented next Sunday (14), in a free preview, with the participation of the Choir and the Symphony Orchestra of the Municipal Theater.
Tickets are sold out.
The cast features big names in opera such as Ludmilla Bauerfeldt, Eiko Senda, Inácio de Nonno and Edineia Oliveira.
Among the protagonists are the Italian tenor Davide Tuscano and the Brazilian soprano Lorena Pires, winner of the Joaquina Lapinha Lyric Singing Competition, who will appear on the Municipal stage for the first time.

The conception and scenic direction are by Pablo Maritano, under the direction of Carlos Vieu, prominent Argentine artists who also debut in the official season of the Rio theater. (HANDLE)
