Rieti, a historic city 80 km from Roma, approved a project that provides incentives for those who decide to move there and work in smart working.
The initiative approved by the city hall is called “Rieti Smart Village” and offers facilities and Incentives for rent, with a maximum duration of six months, possibly extendable.
The project was launched with the aim of stimulating the attraction of “brilliant minds” to the city, in a period characterized by all the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The initiative also offers the possibility, for those who carry out their work distance, to enjoy everything that the territory of Rieti, rich in history and traditions, has to offer.
smart working: a growing phenomenon in Italy
Rieti isn't the only one aiming to encourage remote work: several Italian cities are launching offers for smart work.
The municipality of Castropignano, in Molise, for example, it approved a regulation that provides for the “handover” of abandoned houses in the historic center to whoever is responsible for restoring them. And with that, attract new inhabitants with “flexible jobs”.
Santa Fiora, in the province of Grosseto, aims to become “Italy’s first Smart Workers’ City”. It intends to allocate 30 thousand euros to cover 50% of the rent for those who decide to move their residence there, working remotely.

In other words, digital consumers tripled in the first three months of the pandemic, compared to 12 months ago.

According to data released by the B2c e-commerce Observatory, promoted by the Milan Polytechnic School of Management and Netcomm, Italian e-commerce in 2020 reached a value of around 22,7 billion euros. A record growth of over 26%, or 4,7 billion more than in 2019.
