The mapping system for minor children in Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo It has been offline since last Thursday (22). The technical failure occurs just days before the deadline for expressing interest in the Prenot@mi system.
The deadline set by the consulate itself is January 30th. Users report that, immediately after filling out the form, the request is not submitted. Mapping is a mandatory step for scheduling these cases.
In a press conference held this Monday (26), consulate representatives confirmed that they are aware of the problem. The failure was identified through complaints and comments from users on social networks, such as Instagram.
According to the consulate's press office, the instability is caused by a system change in Rome. The technological update process affects both the Fast It portal and Prenot@mi in several consular offices.
The agency has not yet issued an official statement, believing in a quick resolution. However, if the instability persists and prevents interested parties from registering, the consulate is considering adopting an alternative method for data collection.
One of the alternatives being considered is receiving requests via email. At the moment, there is no exact timeframe for when the system will be back to normal. The consulate stated that it is monitoring the situation to ensure that citizens are not negatively impacted.
The urgency of the mapping is due to the need to prioritize serving children who were minors on May 24, 2025. The right of these young people to recognition of citizenship, by virtue of the law, is conditional upon the submission of the declaration by May 31, 2026.
New rules of Budget Act 2026 They also changed the procedure for those born on or after May 25, 2025. For these cases, the deadline for declaring their intention to remain in Brazil has been extended to three years.
According to the ItalianismOperational guidelines regarding the new regulations and potential refunds of fees paid should be published in the coming days. For now, the focus remains on regularizing access for urgent mapping cases.
