Sicily calls on tourists: “a budget of 50 million euros to heat up the market”

Join this one bonus given by local government. It seems like a dream, but that's what government of Sicily promises to revive tourism in the region, heavily affected by the coronavirus pandemic.

“We are preparing 600 tourist packages that we will put on the market and give to those who stay at least 3 nights in Sicily,” said regional tourism councilor Manlio Messina.
The fund – approximately 50 million euros – will be used immediately, he guarantees, for discounts on flights, museums and attractions. “And for every 3 nights in a hotel, one will be free.” The region promises all possible discounts and gifts to attract tourists.
But this time, only for Italians. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Italy's borders remain closed to foreigners and there is no forecast for when they will reopen.
