The ancient Roman amphitheatre at the archaeological site of Pompeii in southern Italy will host a series of shows between June and July.

The initiative was presented this Tuesday (12), in Rome, and includes performances by American musician John Legend (June 11), and the band of the New Zealand actor Russell Crowe (9/7), protagonist of “Gladiator”, and the Italian pop opera trio Il Volo (17/7).
“Today we celebrate the very happy marriage between cultural artistic heritage and a national excellence, which is singing,” said Italy's Minister of Culture, Gennaro Sangiuliano.
The shows will take place in an ancient gladiator arena in the Roman city of Pompeii, devastated by an eruption of the volcano Vesuvius in the year 79 and which is now Italy's main archaeological site.

In the 1970s, the amphitheater was already the stage for a historic Pink Floyd concert, cementing its connection with the world of music.
The show schedule in Pompeii also includes Carmen Consoli (8/6), Ludovico Einaudi (12/7), Biagio Antonacci (18, 19 and 20/7), Pooh (22/7) and Francesco De Gregori (26/7 ). (HANDLE).
