Italy's new F-35 Lightning II fighter jets take part in training in Sardinia
Italian Air Force F-35 Lightning II fighters are participating in a three-week exercise at the Decimomannu air base in Sardinia.
During the weeks following the exercise, the six F-35s involved in the training took off during the day and night, in order to test all possible functions of the first Italian stealth fighter, and of the military involved with the fighter.
This is the second operational exercise that Italy's F-35s have participated in. The country's Air Force currently has eight planes in its fleet.
Manufactured using the most advanced aeronautical technologies, the first fighter jet was delivered in the year 2016, becoming the first nation outside the USA to receive the newest fighter jet which has many orders from friendly nations.
