This Monday (27), Rodrigo Faro spoke out after his name was associated with a controversy involving the falsification of documents to recognize his Italian citizenship. The presenter released an official note on his social networks.
In the statement, the Faro team begins by clarifying: “We declare that in 2021, recommended by a friend who had already taken his passport Italian, Rodrigo Faro began the process of Italian citizenship to acquire the passport for him and his family. The office indicated for this work was Diritto Di Cittadinanza SRL
(https://www.dirittodicittadinanzasrl.com/conheca-a-diritto-di-cittadinanza/). Rodrigo, through his lawyers here in Brazil, provided all the necessary documentation, proved ties with his descendants in Italy and the process was approved and the passports were granted.”
The note goes on to mention: “This morning, May 27th, Rodrigo, as well as any other client who hired the services of the aforementioned office, was taken by surprise with their alleged involvement in a corruption scheme to obtain citizenship of Italian passport”.
Additionally, Faro's lawyers highlight that the artist and his wife were victims of the scheme. “The articles published in the Brazilian press make it clear that Rodrigo and his wife were mentioned as beneficiaries of the scheme, that is, they were victims of this office and its team, since they hired the service of a supposedly legal, reputable company, which followed with procedures in accordance with Italian law. Proof of this is that the process was approved and the passports were issued.”
Finally, they state that the presenter is already taking the necessary legal measures. “Rodrigo has already contacted his lawyers here in Brazil so that this misunderstanding can be resolved and so that those responsible for this alleged corruption scheme are duly punished.”
Operation Carioca
This Monday, the Naples police arrested six people suspected of involvement in a criminal network that falsified public documents to obtain Italian citizenship. Among those detained are two Brazilians, Silmara Fabotti, from the company Diritto di Cittadinanza, Flavio Alan Yogui, and four public servants from Villaricca, accused of facilitating the scheme in exchange for bribes.
The operation revealed that the criminal organization falsely registered Brazilian citizens as residents in Villaricca to allow them to obtain the Italian citizenship. The investigation, which lasted a year and used wiretapping and surveillance, also seized 80 euros in cash and Rolex watches.
The network benefited several Brazilians, including celebrities such as presenter Rodrigo Faro, his wife, Vera Lúcia Viel Faro, and football player Bruno Duarte da Silva.
The police monitored illegal activities and discovered the collaboration of municipal employees who falsified documents and allowed the criminal organization to use official equipment.
