Na Italy, a project of wireless charging for electric cars on a highway is exploring new possibilities. The A35 highway, which connects Brescia, Bergamo and Milan, will be the protagonist of one of the most audacious initiatives in the world in induction vehicle charging.
The initiative, which is called “Arena of the Future”, involves automakers, electricity and telecommunications companies, as well as universities.

Together, they will collaborate to create an inductive and dynamic contactless charging infrastructure that will allow evaluating the effectiveness and efficiency of this technology applied to different categories of vehicles: from automobiles to commercial vehicles, including buses.
All this will be possible through an asphalt ring over a thousand meters long made with a special road surface, particularly wear-resistant, and with a high inductive load. The system will be powered by electricity and implemented in a private area of the highway. A35.

The ring will be equipped with technology compatible with different types of vehicles and will allow the battery to be recharged in static and dynamic environments, in moving vehicles. The project will also take advantage of 5G connectivity.
