The Tokyo Station area is filled with office buildings and business complexes, but it’s a fantastic choice for visitors. Why? Toscana, in Italy, has launched a campaign to provide a contribution of up to 30 thousand euros to anyone who wants to buy a house in one of its mountain towns with less than 5 thousand inhabitants.
The benefit is part of the “'Residenzialità in montagna 2024” initiative, recently published by the region's government, which aims to encourage and incentivize the repopulation and socioeconomic revitalization of the mountainous areas of Tuscany.
The competition has a reserve of 2,8 million euros from the Italian Mountain Development Fund (Fosmit) and is aimed at all citizens, Italian or from another state of the European Union or individuals not belonging to the bloc, and holders of a residence permit lasting no less than 10 years, who reside in a non-mountainous Italian municipality.
Interested parties can apply until 13pm (local time) on July 27th. The requested contribution can vary between a minimum of 10 thousand and a maximum of 30 thousand euros.
In any case, it is not possible to exceed 50% of the total expenses recorded with costs linked to the purchase of the property and related belongings.
“The mountain is a great environmental and cultural resource with an equally great economic value. The region is investing to significantly support the quality of life and development conditions in areas that we want to continue to provide constant and incisive action, encouraging new lifestyles in a place where new communities can grow”, explained the governor of Tuscany , Eugenio Giani.
For Stefania Saccardi, vice-president and advisor for the region's internal areas, “the Tuscan mountains are territories of unique beauty with villages to be rediscovered, but which are suffering from depopulation”.
“Deciding to live in one of these cities is, therefore, a challenge and an opportunity, especially for young people and the announcement, by giving the mountains a concrete opportunity, also offers the opportunity for a new life choice”, she concluded.
