The quality of life ranking: Pordenone is the city where you can live best. Last place for Foggia
The city where you live best in Italy is in the province of Pordenone, in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region. Foggia in Apulia, it is the worst.
This is what the 22nd edition of the annual ranking prepared by ItaliaOggi and La Sapienza University de Rome.
There is a change at the top. Last year, first place was occupied by Trento. The Trentino province is now in second place (last year it was exactly the opposite).
This year, the ranking also takes into account the ongoing pandemic and, in fact, the provinces most affected by the first wave are the ones that lost the most positions in the overall ranking.
Thus, Bergamo fell from 26th place last year to 40th this year.
The methodology used in the research – in 107 Italian provinces – seems to have been able to immediately capture at least the direct consequences of the pandemic.
South has poor or insufficient quality of life
The data also shows that around 42,5% of the Italian population (around 44% last year) lives in areas characterized by a poor or insufficient quality of life.
The group of provinces characterized by an insufficient level of quality of life is made up this year exclusively of provinces in southern Italy and on the islands.
This means that the quality of life of more than 60,1% of the population residing in the South is below acceptable levels.
As for the top positions, after the provinces Pordenone and Trento, there are two new entries: Vicenza (it was 14th) and Padua (11th).

Foggia, in Apulia, appears in last place, that is, in 107th place.
