The State of São Paulo is about to gain new cultural recognition. Italicittà Award 2025The event, promoted by the Circolo Italiano San Paolo, with the support of the Italian Consulate in São Paulo, will highlight the municipalities that most promote and preserve Italian heritage within their territory.
The awards ceremony is scheduled to take place in April 2026 and will recognize initiatives that keep the Italian-Brazilian identity alive in the state.
What is Italicittà?
O Italicittà Award It was created to promote good municipal practices and civil society initiatives related to Italian culture. The aim is to encourage a continuous cycle of preserving immigrant memory through projects, festivals, courses, and local symbols.
Cities can participate in different categories, with emphasis on cultural events, monuments, traditional celebrations, gastronomic activities, and historical memory initiatives.
The award is divided into two main categories: Municipalities and Citizens.
Categories for municipalities
Municipal administrations can register initiatives such as:
- Italian festival with cultural significance
- Photo of a monument or symbol of the Italian presence. (such as fountains, signs, flags or street names)
The actions must demonstrate a commitment to valuing the cultural heritage brought by Italian immigrants.
Categories for citizens
The public can also participate by contributing cultural and historical content, such as:
- Redaction
- Video with an Italian family story.
- Artistic presentations
- Miss Circolo Italiano pageant
- Answer to the question: "For you, what is the importance of the Italicittà 2025 Award?"
Registration is in progress.
Several municipalities have already started their registration process, with proposals ranging from traditional festivals to public monuments inspired by Italian culture.
Among those registered are Serra Negra, with actions in three categories; Indaiatuba, with the Grape and Wine Festival of the Videiras neighborhood; and Taubaté, which participates in one of the largest Italian festivals in the state, held annually with strong community participation.
