The Autonomous Province of Trento has opened applications for the 2026 edition of its Youth Exchange Program. The initiative is aimed at Trentino emigrants residing abroad and their descendants.

The program takes place in two distinct stages. The first phase will be held in Italy, between July 18 and August 2, 2026. During this period, young people from abroad will be hosted by local residents for two weeks.

The itinerary in Italy includes guided cultural and tourist visits. Participants will meet with representatives from the academic and economic worlds, as well as local associations and institutions. There will also be family activities to experience daily life in the region of origin.

The second phase of the exchange takes place the following year, in 2027. The young descendants will act as hosts and will receive their Trentino partners in their respective countries of residence for two weeks. The duration of this trip will be determined by mutual agreement between the participants.

In the three months leading up to the first phase, the International Partnerships Office will hold meetings with residents in Italy. The aim is to deepen understanding of the project and align expectations regarding the cultural experience.

Since the program's inception in 1999, young people from Brazil, Argentina, the United States, and 14 other countries have participated in the initiative. The project seeks to strengthen ties between the province and communities of descendants around the world.

To participate, candidates must be between 18 and 35 years old on the date of registration. Candidates from abroad must be... necessarily of Trentino originCandidates residing in Italy must live in the province of Trento.

The program offers 15 places for young descendants residing abroad and another 15 places for residents of Trento. The deadline for applications is February 28, 2026. The application form is available on the province's official website: see here.

  • Origin: to be a descendant of immigrants from Trentino.
