O 2nd Ciccillo Matarazzo Prize will be presented on June 17th, at Terraço Itália, in São Paulo. The event will pay tribute to two exponents of Italian-Brazilian culture: Aurora Fornoni Bernardini and Marco Lucchesi.
Created by Andrea Matarazzo, the award recognizes Italian personalities who stand out in Brazil. The 2025 edition will be dedicated to intellectuals who strengthen cultural ties between Brazil and Italy.
Aurora Bernardini is a senior professor at USP, a translator and researcher working in Italian, Brazilian, Russian and English literature. Her 125-page Lattes CV is impressive for its volume and academic diversity.
Marco Lucchesi, poet and president of the National Library, stands out for his international projection and the sensitivity that marks his intellectual trajectory.
The ceremony will be attended by the Italian ambassador, Alessandro Cortese, and other representatives of the Italian-Brazilian community. The jury responsible for the selection includes names such as Consul Domenico Fornara, Ambassador Rubens Ricupero and artist Maria Bonomi, author of the award trophy.

“Aurora’s range of academic activities is impressive,” Bonomi said. Ambassador Renato Mosca de Souza said: “Marco Lucchesi is a first-rate intellectual, but also a man of great sensitivity.”
The award reinforces the role of culture as a link between the two countries, celebrating trajectories that make literature and thought bridges between continents.
