From July onwards, the application and renewal service passports will be available at all post offices in Italy.
The news was announced by the General Director of Poste Italiane, Giuseppe Lasco, after a meeting with the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, to discuss the progress of the Polis project (Polis Service) from the Italian Post Office.
“The big news is that from July, after completing the necessary legal procedures, this service will be progressively available in all Post Offices in Italy, without distinction between large and small centers”, said the General Director.
Lasco added that Polis “is progressing well, with 2.400 projects already initiated and more than 1.500 post offices completed throughout Italy. At the request of the Ministry of the Interior, we have become active in extending the passport application service to support the Questuras and Police Stations. Since March, we have registered more than 350 requests at the 31 post offices where the service is active, and by the end of the month, more than 130 post offices will be operational. It is worth noting that more than 80% of citizens have requested home delivery of their passports by the Italian postal service, saving time and important travel, and especially benefiting the environment.”
