The citizenship referendum is destined to fail. This is what a survey conducted by the economics portal shows Money.it on the consultation that has already reached the necessary number of signatures to be put to a vote.
Now, the final word is up to Constitutional Court, which normally in the month of January, must pronounce itself on the admissibility of the proposal.
As can be seen in the results of the survey, which has no scientific value, but is only indicative, and is not carried out based on sampling, 65% of those interviewed said they were ready to vote. "No" in the referendum on citizenship.
A very clear result, which reveals how readers are against the referendum proposal: reduce from 10 to 5 years the period of legal residence in Italy required to apply for the Italian citizenship, which, once obtained, would be automatically passed on to minor children.
According to the deputy George Mule, from Forza Italia, the referendum on citizenship is at serious risk of being rejected by Constitutional Court from Italy, since “it does not repeal an article of law, but modifies it”.
In short, the path seems to be full of obstacles: if the proposal is declared admissible, those who may end up rejecting the referendum could be the Italians themselves, as the results of the survey indicate.
