Data from the General Council of Italians Abroad (CGIE), sent to Italianism, reveal an impressive growth in the Italian population residing in Brazil in recent years.

Between 2014 and 2023, the number of Italians in the country soared by 84,25%, representing an absolute increase of more than 365 individuals. Brazil closed 2023, according to the Italian Embassy General, with 799.209 Italian residents.

This growth places Brazil in third position among the countries that are home to the largest recognized Italian community in the world, behind only Argentina and Germany. Projections indicate that, in the next three to four years, the Brazil will surpass Germany in this regard.

If the average annual growth rate of 7,04% continues, it is estimated that the Italian population in Brazil will reach more than 1 million and 200 thousand people by 2030.

An additional factor that could further amplify the growth of the Italian community in Brazil in the coming years is the significant increase in the search for Italian citizenship in the last years, facilitated by actions in Italian courts.

Belo Horizonte and Curitiba lead growth

Belo Horizonte is the district that showed the highest Italian population growth, with an increase of 113% between 2014 and 2023.
