Italy has now recorded 1.128 cases of the new coronavirus (Sars-CoV-2), which has also recorded 29 deaths in the epidemic. The report was released this Saturday (29) by the head of the country's Civil Defense, Angelo Borrelli.
The last eight deaths occurred in Lombardy (six) and Emilia-Romagna (two), regions in northern Italy that concentrate most of the cases. All of the victims were elderly, and most suffered from other health problems.
14 of the 20 Italian regions have already registered cases: Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto, Liguria, Piedmont, Tuscany, Marche, Sicily, Campania, Puglia, Lazio, Calabria, Abruzzo and Trentino-Alto Adige.
To date, 50 people have been cured, but 105 patients are hospitalized in intensive care. According to Borrelli, 52% of individuals are asymptomatic and in home isolation.
Italy is the third country with the most cases of Sars-CoV-2, behind only China (79,25 thousand), where the epidemic began, and South Korea (3,15 thousand).
