In northern Italy, snow blocks thousands of vehicles on the highway

Firefighters had to rescue around 200 people from cars due to freezing temperatures

Thousands of vehicles were stuck this Saturday (02), on the A22 motorway that connects Italy to Austria, due to heavy snow hitting the Bolzano region, in northern Italy.

Due to the bad weather that caused an avalanche and the lack of circulation equipment for these conditions, Italian civil protection admitted that it was difficult to reach the blocked cars and trucks. The traffic queues stretched for 16 kilometers and there were several hours of waiting, but there were no reports of casualties.
