Changing the Italian citizenship law would be an obsession for Salvini's party.

A week to forget, or to drive you crazy. A series of speculations about the future of Italian citizenship has taken over Italian-Brazilian groups, causing panic among those waiting in endless consulate queues, or who still dream of claiming their right.
Several alarming news or opinions are being circulated, some from sources linked to government or opposition politicians, such as the supposed generational limit of citizenship, which if approved, the “Salvini Decree” must set a limit for the transmission of Italian citizenship. 'iure sanguinis' (blood right) for only up to the second generation, that is, for even grandchildren of Italians. Today, as it stands, there is no generational limit for applying for citizenship.
The draft decree – which would be discussed on Friday (7) and postponed until Tuesday (11) – was written by supporters of Matteo Salvini, deputy prime minister and minister of the Interior, with anti-immigration ideas, which support your Lega Nord party (or Northern League), and who was elevated to command of the country through voting, that is, with a population that supports his ultra-rightist ideas. This alone is enough to fear a possible change in the law. The change in Italian citizenship law, which comes in the wake of the immigration issue, is an obsession of Salvini's party.
But to be valid, the draft needs to become a coherent text. (which until now is not the case) to be approved by the Council of Ministers. After that, parliament needs to vote and convert it into law, and the then “Decreto Salvini” It has a period of 60 days – counting from its publication date – to come into effect. Otherwise, the decree loses its validity.
It is necessary to remember that, if it is eventually taken forward, the decree to become Law needs to be submitted to parliament and the senate, go through committees – of constitution and justice – to assess its constitutional viability and then implement it. The way it was written and leaked to the press, this decree violates the constitution.
Despite being a desire of Lega, which uses newspaper editorial offices in all parts of the country to talk about the issue of immigration, the idea could gain supporters and disrupt the lives of thousands of descendants, in Brazil and around the world. Those who dream of Italian citizenship should indeed exercise caution.
Defenders also took advantage of the wave of scare to reinforce the idea of "Ius culturae", which wishes to link citizenship also to knowledge of the Italian language and culture, Italian laws and institutions, as proposed by the Maie (Associative Movement Italiani all'Estero). Another discriminatory and unnecessary position.
In this scenario of fear, with the spotlight on, many experts take the opportunity to mark their territory with their opinions, many of them pure guesswork.
The harvest is great, but there are many reapers. Everyone wants to reap the fruit.
