Imagine ordering a pizza through the app and days later discovering that it actually cost approximately R$ 300 thousand. The news is causing a stir in Bologna, in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy.
According to the newspaper Il Resto del Carlino to 62-year-old man ordered a “four seasons” pizza through a famous platform home delivery (completely unrelated to the story), but when checking the bank account days later found that 46.500 euros were missing, removed in a transfer made on January 3rd.
Payment for the pizza – which cost less than 10 euros – was made using a credit card, although it was not necessary to enter any password, according to the elderly man, whose name was not revealed.
The police then followed the money trail and managed to block it thanks to the preventive seizure ordered by investigating judge Alberto Gamberini. The value already returned to the elderly.
The transaction was carried out for a hotel establishment of Caserta, near Naples. The Italian Public Prosecutor's Office opened a operation to investigate the case.
