Renzi will take “excellencies” to dinner with the American president.
Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi will be welcomed by US President Barack Obama for an official dinner next Tuesday (18), and will bring to the White House four women who symbolize the “excellence” of his country.
The group will be made up of Paralympic champion Bebe Vio, gold and bronze medalist in fencing at the Rio 2016 Games; by scientist Fabiola Gianotti, the first woman to head the European Council for Nuclear Research (Cern); by Paola Antonelli, curator of the architecture and design department at the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA); and by Giusi Nicolini (picture above), mayor of Lampedusa, a city at the center of the migration crisis in southern Europe.
In addition, the delegation will be attended by actor, film director and comedian Roberto Benigni, winner of the Oscar for best foreign film and best actor in 1999 for “Life is Beautiful”. The menu will be prepared by the famous North American chef Mario Batali. (ANSA)
