Santelli was the first woman to govern the Calabria Region and spent 8 months in office
The governor of the Calabria Region, Jole Santelli, died this Thursday (15) at the age of 51, at her home in Cosenza.
She had been suffering from cancer for about two years, according to the report. Corriere della Sera.
Santelli was the first woman to preside over the Calabrian regionthe. She took office on February 15, 2020.
Deputy from 2001 to 2020, she was undersecretary of the Ministry of Justice from 2001 to 2006 in the Berlusconi II and III governments, as well as undersecretary in the Ministry of Labor from May to December 2013 in the Letta government.
Before being elected president of the region, she held the position of vice-president of the anti-mafia parliamentary committee.
