The government of Minas Gerais signed, this Monday (20), a Memorandum of Understanding with the Veneto region, in northeastern Italy. The signing took place during the governor's official mission Romeo Zema to Europe.
The agreement provides for cooperation in areas such as sustainable development, education, viticulture—grape cultivation and wine production—and industrial technology. The Minas Gerais delegation is accompanied by representatives from industry and the state government.
"Without a doubt, new markets are opening up for both parties," said Zema. "The Veneto region is one of the most industrialized in Italy, with many advanced technology industries, particularly mechanical and optical."

Minas Gerais delegation seeks closer ties with Italy
Zema, who is an Italian citizen, emphasized that the Federation of Industries of Minas Gerais will maintain a close relationship with the Veneto industrial entity. The expectation is to expand the exchange of products and knowledge between the regions.
In 2024, Minas Gerais was the Brazilian state that exported the most to Italy and the second-largest importer. The trade balance was positive: a surplus of US$15,2 million.
