Transhumance in Milan. Hundreds of sheep block streets around the city

A scene that repeats itself every year: the transhumance, the seasonal migration of herds.

This Sunday, some streets in the outskirts of Milan were closed for a few hours to allow hundreds of sheep to pass through, which are traveling between San Donato and Rogoredo – around 35 kilometers. 

The plain is a landing point from autumn to spring. Then the herd returns to the mountain pastures.
