Consumer association presents study on prices and tariffs in the 18 largest cities in Italy
Again Milan is confirmed as the city in Italy where the cost of living is highest, even in the post-Covid phase.
Nápoles is the one that offers the lowest prices for food products, while Pescara It is the most convenient city in terms of services.
The data are from Codacons, the Italian consumer association, which carried out a detailed study on prices and tariffs in force in Italy in June.
The study was carried out in the 18 largest cities, spread throughout the territory.
“We examined a basket with 31 items including goods and services to check the average level of prices and tariffs in force in the main cities and understand what the cost of living was in the post-Covid phase and the differences between the different regions of the country”, explains the president Carlo Rienzi.
“It turns out that to buy the same basket of products and services in the most expensive city you spend an average of 262 euros more than in the cheapest, and if in the south of Italy it is significantly cheaper to eat, on the other hand you pay much more for the garbage tariff”, he says.
Milan, the most expensive city in Italy
In contrast, Milan is the most expensive city, with a cost of 853,43 euros to purchase the complete basket, followed by Cagliari (821,37 euros) e Nápoles (819,53 euros).
However, in the last two, cities have a strong impact on the cost of Tari,
the waste management tax in Italy, which is the highest among the cities examined.
Pescara, with an average expenditure of €590,97 to purchase the goods and services surveyed, is the cheapest city.
From a dietary point of view, Nápoles is at the top of the ranking of the most convenient cities: there, to buy fruit, vegetables, meat and fish, you spend a total of 72,24 euros and just a few more cents on Catanzaro (73,17 euros).
Milan is the most expensive (109 euros), followed by Aosta (97,13 euros).
